Whelping Room

This is OPPs Whelping Room, created from one of our spare bedrooms, where your puppy is born and raised by its mother in the comfort and protection of our home.  The kiddy-pool lined in blankets is where our expectant mothers give birth and nurse their pups for the first 2 weeks.  After this time, mother and puppies are housed, with blankets and padding, in the whelping box (large wooden structure in-front of kiddy-pool) until puppies are weaned.  Weaned puppies are housed in the whelping box, which is lined with cedar shavings and equipped with self-watering devices.  OPP pups are fed outside of the whelping box, in an additional kiddy-pool (for easy clean-up), which is set up in the whelping room after the pups are fully weaned.

Whelping Box

This is OPPs Whelping Box which is equipped with both fans and heating lamps.

Outdoor Kennels

Here are some of OPPs outdoor kennels which are housed within our large fenced-in back yard.  We currently have 6 (5 X 10) heavy 9 gauge chain-link kennels that sit atop a 4 yard concrete slab that has been constructed with rear drainage which helps with easy clean-up and keeps all urine and fecal matter away from our dogs.  We will be adding one more 4 yard concrete slab, afixed with 6 more 5 X 10 kennels, putting OPPs yard at a maximum capacity of 12 outdoor kennels.  The tent in the middle of our yard provides a sheltered area for dogs when they are out on our dog run.  Construction on our outdoor set-up should be completed by the fall of 2009.

Indoor Kennels

Here is OPPs Indoor Kennel, created from the den area in our home, where we house our dogs at night and during periods of inclement weather.  This room also houses a couple of dogs at a time during the day as we rotate our dogs from outside to indoors, giving them all a chance to enjoy the life of a "house dog" a few times a week.  Dogs that are housed in the den during the daytime are not kept in their crates, they are allowed to be where they choose....typically on the purple futon pictured above, lol.
